Dover Downs Hotel & Casino is pleased to offer a highly competitive employee benefit program that ensures ongoing protection and peace of mind for our employees and their families. These benefits are available to employees upon the completion of 90 days of consecutive full-time regular employment. The information listed below is a brief overview of the benefits available to employees who meet this criterion:
Managing Your Health
Medical/Vision/Dental/Prescription Insurance Package: Dover Downs Hotel & Casino offers a comprehensive health benefits package to employees to protect their well being. This package offers both preventative and illness/accident related health care coverage. Our options discount program offers discounted rates for popular health and wellness services that are not covered under the health benefits package such as acupuncture, massage therapy, nutrition counseling, personal training, and laser vision correction services.
Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance: Basic Life Insurance is provided at no cost to the employees to help provide financial protection in the event of a tragedy. Employees may also elect supplemental life and accidental insurance for themselves and their eligible dependents.
Disability Plans: Short-term and Long-term Disability Plans are provided at no cost to protect eligible employees’ income while recovering from illness or injury.
Planning For The Future
401(k): Dover Downs Hotel & Casino 401(k) incentive savings plan allows employees (full-time regular and part-time regular) to build a financial reserve for retirement by electing to deduct pre-tax dollars and place them in a 401(k) savings plan. All new employees who have participated in their former employer’s 401(k) may rollover their savings into the Dover Downs’ 401(k) savings plan.
Retirement Plan: Dover Downs Hotel & Casino's pension plan provides a source of retirement income for our employees (full-time regular and part-time regular) to supplement other sources of retirement income. The pension plan is fully funded and employees are not required to make any monetary contributions to it.
Work/Life Balance
Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts: Dover Downs Hotel & Casino's Health Care FSA enables employees to contribute up to $3,000 before-tax dollars to an account used to pay for eligible healthcare expenses. Reimbursements are tax-free. Our Dependent Care FSA enables employees to contribute up to $5,000.00 before-tax dollars to an account used to pay for eligible dependent care expenses with tax free reimbursement.
Employee Assistance Program: Dover Downs Hotel & Casino's Employee Assistance Program provides confidential counseling and referral services to assist employees and their family members in dealing with personal problems.
 Child Care Resource and Referral Program: Dover Downs Hotel & Casino's Child Care Resource and Referral Program offers free advice, guidance, and useful educational materials about child care related topics, as well as providing referrals to child care providers with that meet our employee’s needs. This program also provides assistance with elder care referrals, adoption assistance, and $300 assistance per year for child care services in emergency situations.
Educational Assistance: Full-time regular employees, who have completed at least one year of employment, are eligible to participate in our tuition assistance program. We will pay a portion of tuition and regular administrative fees for pre-approved courses offered for credit by accredited institutions of learning that you complete with a final grade of C or better.
Wellness Initiatives: Dover Downs Hotel & Casino's wellness initiative is offered to all employees all year long, in the form of health and wellness seminars and educational materials, weight loss competitions, blood bank drives, and healthy cooking demonstrations.
Vacations and Holidays: Full-time regular employees will accrue between 2 and 4 weeks of vacation based on length of employment. We recognize the following paid holidays: New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, as well as one Floating Holiday.
Sick Leave and Leaves of Absence: Full-time regular employees accrue sick time after 90 days of continuous employment. Approved Leaves of Absence are available for Bereavement, Jury Duty, and approved FMLA.

We seek to reward and recognize outstanding employees throughout the year who demonstrate exceptional customer service traits. Several committees composed of management and line employees design recognition programs such as the following:
 Award of Excellence is a monthly award given to employees who show exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
Leadership Award is a quarterly award given to outstanding leaders within the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino community.
"Catch Me At My Best" is an employee reward program to recognize outstanding job performance and customer service.
Milestone Programs celebrate our employees’ marriages or birth or adoption of children.
Service Awards commemorate our employees achievement and years of employment.
Annual Awards Banquet honors all monthly Award of Excellence winners as well as the Leadership Award winners.
Company Activities
Dover Downs Hotel & Casino recognizes our employees' contribution to its success and celebrates by sponsoring numerous activities.
 Three theme events per year that include management serving and staffing these events for the employees. Some event themes have been “Hollywood Soiree”, a Mardi Gras event, “Checkered Flag Grill”, and the “Awesome 80’s” party.
An Annual Picnic is provided for employees and their families off site.
Other activities throughout the year include day bus trips to such places as Baltimore's Inner Harbor, New York City, ballgames, etc.
